Yes

So again what happens at 33 that stops a keeper improving, when he can at 31 and 32 - as you have said?

Great servant, but not the best keeper on our books anymore. What do you reckon?

Athletico Easthamico 10:52 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Keepers are not like outfield players.

They are at their peak later in their careers. You don't have many young keepers.

Hart was the exception. Great early, then went downhill rapidly.

Adrian could have been the number 1 and get a Ruddy type as the No 2.

And saved us 7 mill.

I love this place when people misrepresent a thread.
Pretty sure most people have said something positive about Adrian, some people just object a little to running down our current keeper who most think is better (some us called this, this summer)

Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Mentioned earlier my preference would be to find a 21 yo or thereabouts as a number 2 that can learn his game and take over from Fabianski eventually
Or maybe take over when Fabianski is ready to drop back to being a no2 at 36 or so

Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
I love this place. A post about a player’s contract ends up with people complaining that anyone might dare to have something positive to say about that player. Never change, WHO.

What is magic about 31 and 32 when you can improve that stops at 33?

Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Adrian was your stereotypical West Ham keeper

Athletico Easthamico 10:44 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
2 years, still younger and open to improvement.

?

Adrian is two years younger

Athletico Easthamico 10:38 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Adrian is young enough to improve, especially with better players in front of him who wont shoot his confidences to pieces.

Fabianski has had a decent enough season but wont be getting any better and is not the long term solution.

ironsofcanada 10:34 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Adrian had the benefit of us setting up to not concede a lot more than Fabianski has.

Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Sven, OK you seem a sensible chap.

Adrian would have saved far more than Fabianski IMO.A far better shit stopper.

SHOT STOPPER!!!!

simon.s 10:33 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
But your opinion is in the minority, Athletico.

And sometimes, just sometimes, even on WHO, you have to admit you are wrong.

Fab is an upgrade on what we had last season. End fucking of.

Athletico Easthamico 10:32 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Sven, our posts crossed.

Sorry, but Adrian had shit in front of him last season.

And most of the clangers were down to Hart.

Because the defence aren't performing- I couldn't believe how shy of tackling our defence was against Chelsea - it was a sham just like against Everton. Fucking disgusting how weak we've been with no passion or desire to fight.

Athletico Easthamico 10:29 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Sven, OK you seem a sensible chap.

Adrian would have saved far more than Fabianski IMO.A far better shit stopper, better reflexes. But generally Fabianski is a steady eddie, he doesn't chuck them in the net. Fab is also better on crosses.

But as I've said he's had the advantage of Diop, Babeuna and Rice.

Is he really an upgrade? We're stuffed for next season's No 2 keeper.

Who gets the blame for the goals still flying in? You know, against mighty Huddersfield and Cardiff etc

Sven Roeder 10:29 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
I forgot Anderson’s inability to run backwards leaving holes on our left.

simon.s 10:26 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
That second Chelsea goal, where Hazard had time to take it down, then phone his wife and ask her where to put it?

Keepers fault.

Sven Roeder 10:25 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
A lot of our problem has been trying to play a back 4 with an ancient right back and often with Arthur who is never a left back.
Plus Rice has been playing midfield on his own for most of the season. We lack midfield control and concede too many looks at our goal.
Losing Balbuena hasn’t helped

Kaiser Zoso 10:23 Wed Apr 10
Re: Adrian's Contract not being renewed
Probably caught 100% more crosses than Adrian, and that’s a fact.
